Tous les élements des QOTSA sont là. Un album très jouissif, bien que moins riche dans la composition et l'arrangement que les albums suivants.

Le drive tranquille mais nerveux de Avon me plait bien, même si la chanson est assez simple au final, les harmonies du refrain sont trop bonnes. Idem pour How to Handle a Rope (A Lesson in the Lariat), le refrain est cool.

Les instrus Hispanic Impressions ou Spiders and Vinegaroons sont un peu longs. Et la fin du dernier morceau mouais bon.

Un son assez brut, notamment la batterie. Déjà un mur de guitares stoner au midrange généreux.

Cymbales qui tabassent, kick et snare délicieux. Choix stéréo originaux (comme plus tard).
